View from the rear

Well this is the view I had all day. And that was when I was close enough to even see it. Did a monster workout with The Champ today. I can't give details as I have been sworn to secrecy. All I can say is that pain was dished out in generous heapings and Elvis says hello. Finally after 3+ hours I said uncle, and hobbled home knowing full well that he was not done and was letting me off easy. So I went home and did a long hilly run to balance out the lactic acid slate. Anyway, 4.5 hours all told. I finally gave in tonight and had some well deserved cap't crunch. I know, I know, old habits die hard, and I am young at heart. Well time to put the jittery legs to bed. Zzzzzzzz

Dog Diggity

Hit the dog today, midday at the dog is the best. Trails free of others plenty of time to reflect then go "oh shit" cause you you were "reflecting" and almost drove it into a great big hole. Anyway, it kept me on my toes. This weekend was full of delving into the vast inner reaches of my psyche and trying to figure it all out. Kind of like going into a bad neighborhood at night, not the best idea but sometimes the only way to get to your destination. After two days at the firehouse it felt good to throw the MTB around a get a little muddy, plus it was windy and cold which makes for a long solo road ride.

I have still not reconciled myself to the aging process, this past week it became apparent to me that things are as they are (surprise!) and that going against that grain in the oak wood of life can cause things to slow down considerably and force a true consideration of what exactly it is you are looking, hoping, craving for. Well I still don't know and as I dig out of this hole I wonder what is at the top. Hmmm. Keep digging, keep digging.

Intimacy

The human touch
needed more often than not
given less often than needed
infrequent as time goes on

When given however
it can light the soul
give belief in the intangible it
can be the poison apple

Can be the distractor
for the soul searcher
the piece de resistance
the all day smile

The yearn is so deep
the craving so strong
shall I take the bite?
perhaps........

Ride like the wind

FInally shook the cobwebs off this weekend. While everyone was in the valley doing the racy race thing, I was going to Pescy and up hwy 1 for 5 1/2 hours....solo. Thats a long grind by oneself, and alot of inner conversation (read talking to oneself) that amounts to reflection and much dribble. The weather was awesome, and I was was just diggin' the Cali scene, man, we are so lucky. I hit Montara with the tank on E and only had $2 on me. I bought the biggest nastiest pastry I could, enjoyed every bite, which was about 3, and headed out for the last two hours into a bloc headwind and crawled home.

Cleaned out the frig when I got home, then went to see Ghost Rider with the little man who is not so little anymore. It is hard to believe Nick Cage as a superhero. Even a tortured soul super hero. Little man had fun though.

Finished off the weekend with a ride with the champ and the Le Matin boys. Actually felt ok, well I survived anyway. Now it is back to our regularly scheduled non stop work week, if you call 90 hours this week and one day off till next tuesday. Damn, when is that mega lotto thingy....
